World's First Ever Bitcoin Monument Made Public In Slovenia

For several years already, Slovenia has been a well-known a Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-friendly country. It is also home to one of the world’s biggest and most popular cryptocurrency trading platforms, Bitstamp exchange.
Right now, a large installation of the globally-famous Bitcoin “B” logo has been put up at one of the roundabouts in the city of Kranj. The metallic piece was made by Aleksander Frančeškin and Selman Čorović, and was sponsored by 3fs, a Slovenian-based tech design company and Luxembourg-based Bitstamp. It was placed at its current position by city authorities on March 13. Bitstamp’s sponsorship of the monument is an act of paying homage to Bitcoin, the world’s very first cryptocurrency.
While Slovenia is the first country to officially put up a Bitcoin-themed monument, other places all over the world have also caught up with the crypto fever and translated it into different forms of art. One example of this is a spray painted graffiti of the Bitcoin logo made by an unidentified person back in July 2017 in one of Russia’s riverside monuments.
In an interview conducted by Bitcoinist, artist Cryptograffiti expounded the idea of why art is such an important aspect of the Bitcoin ethos. He said: “Throughout history, art has played a pivotal role in spreading movements. This space is especially important as the subject matter can be complex for the general public. Art helps distill the message down to something more people can understand.”
