WikiLeaks, an international non-profit organization on February 12 tweeted that Craig Wright is a serial fabricator claiming to be Bitcoin’s inventor. Wright on February 8 released a publication stating that he “was” Satoshi Nakamoto. He also pointed out that he has never liked WikiLeaks which may have drawn the organization’s attention.
Craig Wright Claims He is Bitcoin’s Inventor in Medium Publication
In reference to Craig Wright’s publication, “Careful what you wish for…” where the programmer claims to be the creator of Bitcoin, WikiLeaks made comments. According to the latter, the claim is coming from someone who is a “Serial Fabricator”, “Serial Forger of documents” and as such, may as well be false.
The organization which publishes secret information and news leaks attached proof of Craig Wright’s post on his blog on August 26, 2008. A snapshot was taken of the original version of the post in 2014. However, another snapshot in 2015 showed that Wright had modified a part of the post, which could give people the impression that he was working on Bitcoin’s whitepaper at that time.
WikiLeaks Reveals Screenshots of Wright’s Publication in 2008
Based on the screenshot, the original version stated that “Tomorrow, back to DNS paper, my statistic dissertation and work”. However, the modified version included the statement: “I have a cryptocurrency paper out soon. Twenty years. Triple entry bookkeeping. BDO was good for something”.
Whatever that means, the only part we got was the launch of a cryptocurrency paper. According to Wikileaks, by modifying the update, he was giving people the impression that he was handling the Bitcoin project at that time. They also added that the publication has been verified alongside several others that were leaked by the platform.
Wright Says He Does Not Like WikiLeaks
Wright, on the other hand, may have piqued the interest of the organization when he said he does not like WikiLeaks. He further stated that generally, he is opposed to criminal markets and bucket shops. In his opinion, these are neither freedom fighters nor libertarians, but predators. Therefore, these are the set of people Bitcoin was designed for in order to make their activities far more difficult.
Further along the line, Craig pointed out that Bitcoin is an immutable ledger whose data is unalterable. It also leaves a trail as evidence and as such, it is a feature that can only be desired by honest governments. He added that he has no interest in aiding criminals using the distributed ledger platform.
