The Ukraine Electoral Commission partners with NEM blockchain for a trial of a blockchain platform for its voting system. This was made known to the public by a member of the Ukraine electoral commission through a Facebook post on the 7th of August. The voting trial is another benefit of the multiple of its kind that the blockchain technology has to offer, as the success will see more adoption by many countries.
About the Ukraine Electoral Voting System
As revealed by Oleksandr Stelmakh, who is the head of the State Register at the Central Electoral Commission of Ukraine, he states his satisfaction with what he described as a continuous experimental series of applying blockchain technology into the voting system.
The blockchain voting system as specified by Oleksandr will use 28 nodes on the NEM blockchain which should run for several weeks, as the voting system will be open to interested participants to test the innovation.
This project was conceived as a result of the nation partnering with the local arm of NEM Foundation in the country. This led to using the TestNet and the NEM token to see how best the platform will function before it’s finally released to be used at the nation’s general elections.
Ukraine is not the only place where the blockchain voting system is underway, as West Virginia plans to use the blockchain voting system by November of this year. West Virginia will be using a blockchain phone app for the election later in November. The app called “Secure Military Mobile Voting Solution” will let voting be done through the use of mobile phones.
Blockchain technology revamping every phase of the society is a great revolution for the technology so to say, as more countries shortly are expected to adopt blockchain for their voting system.
