Justin Sun’s bantering feud with Vitalik Buterin has been one of the most entertaining operas in the crypto space, and Justin has once again stirred the calm seas to put a smile on our tweeting faces once again before Valentine comes.
Enter Sun and Butter-in
Justin Sun’s longtime trade of words with Buterin goes as far as 2016, and what has followed have been two years of veiled barbs and light-hearted teases.
TRON first came under the microscopic eye of Ethereum founder, Vitalik Buterin, and the crypto community at large when Buterin publicly accused TRON of plagiarizing Ethereum’s whitepaper. Justin would vehemently deny the accusations then, only to make changes to the whitepaper to ward off the attention, and what-knows-what.
Apart from the issue of plagiarism, TRON’s blockchain performance claims have always fallen under the scrutiny of critics, and Buterin has been no exception. In fact, the Ethereum founder has been at the forefront of the army of unbelievers pointing suspicious fingers at Justin Sun’s blockchain, and Buterin has found time flaunting a light-hearted sneer at the ‘marketing skills’ of his fellow competitor. For example, Buterin in his characteristic banter recently threw shade at TRON and possibly other alternatives to the Ethereum blockchain such as EOS, and NEO. He chipped:
“So I’ve noticed a lot of misconceptions here. Because, like, there’s a lot of like, honestly, bad crypto projects that try to claim. ‘Oh, because we use fancy BFT, we can do 5,000 transactions per second, and proof-of-work can only do 15.’”
Enter Sun, and Butter, a parody of what might never be. In the spirit of competition, and twitterati irony, one might expect Sun to be the giant competitor poised to ‘lick away’ Butter-in from existence, but the performance and adoption of the Ethereum blockchain and continuous solutions prove that might never happen.
As Red as Valentine
Justin Sun might be a powerhouse of energy and passion, but a few have read too much into the humor in Sun’s latest nudge at Vitalik Buterin. The TRON founder, and now owner of BitTorrent could not help referring to a positive comment made by Buterin on BitTorrent’s use cases, but the problem remains the date the comment was made: 2017.
“Thank you @VitalikButerin for standing out! I have a secret campaign especially for you in #ValentinesDay! Don’t forget to join it! #TRON #TRX $TRX #BitTorrent #BTT $BTT.”
Justin tweeted this in response to Buterin’s ‘ancient-of-days’ comment which lauded BitTorrent as the only non-Bitcoin proving to be a ‘real long-lasting use case to decentralized applications.
Grimwyrd, a Redditor, could not help but marvel at Sun’s ingenuity of victory at all costs which many perceive as a new tactic to push up BitTorrent token’s price:
“It cracks me up that Justin dug up a few old Buterin tweets where he mentions BitTorrent and re-tweeted them. Justin is such an ass… but not in a mean-spirited way, just in a hyper-competitive way. I love his passion!”
