Top Cryptocurrencies Flash Green as St. Patrick's Day Celebration Commences in Ireland

Tomorrow, March 17 is St. Patrick’s day, but the top 20 cryptocurrencies on Coinmarketcap asides from Cardano and NEM are already in celebration. Some have spiked significantly this Saturday, while others are showing a remarkable performance. Bitcoin, for the third time in the year, is trading above the $4,000 price level, which has been its resistance.

Cryptocurrency Market Retries February 24’s All-time High

Saint Patrick’s Day or the Feast of Saint Patrick is believed to come with its own basket of luck and that may be the case due to the sudden spike in the cryptocurrency market today. Bitcoin, for instance, went as high as $4,077, gradually approaching its all-time high for the year at $4,210.

The last time a price range of that nature occurred was on February 24 and since then, the most popular cryptocurrency has been shifting between $3,800 and $3,900. It is also worthy to note that it has trade above the $4,000 level for hours, which in the past, did not last for long.

Asides Bitcoin, the top 20 virtual currencies on Coinmarketcap’s platform other than Cardano and NEM are all in green. Bitcoin cash went as high as 11.22 percent from the previous day, Litecoin 4.35 percent, and Binance coin 4.29 percent as at press time. Of the top 100 coins, Holo, a digital currency ranked 36 has seen the highest increase at 16.90 percent.

Some Cryptocurrencies Hit All time High for 2019

A closer look at each of these reveals that Bitcoin cash, Binance coin, and Holo were either able to reach an all-time high for the year or are approaching their all-time high since 2019 began. An instance is Bitcoin cash whose highest of about $175 was on January 3, attempted a $160 price level today. Holo which is currently valued at $0.001249 has also seen a better price at $0.001556 on February 19.

Likewise, BNB whose highest price in 2019 was $15.65 on March 7, as of today, hit its all-time high for 2019 at the $16 price level. Even after its slight decline, an exchange like LocalTrade is still offering it at $16.10. Therefore, BNB’s performance is one of the most remarkable and a lot can be attributed to its constant surge in price.

A Few Cryptocurrencies Record a Decline in Price

While other cryptocurrencies are on the rise, there are some which are adamant about the move. Cardano and NEM declined 0.40 percent and 2.44 percent respectively. A coin like Crypto.com Chain even went as low as 21 percent from its price a few hours ago. Nevertheless, only about 15 percent of the top 100 coins are still showing red.

Saint Patrick’s Day, on the other hand, is a religious celebration that began in the 17th century. It is a public holiday set aside to commemorate Saint Patrick, a patron saint of Ireland who died on March 17. The day also marks the entrance of Christianity in Ireland.
