Taiwanese Airline Already Accepting Cryptocurrency Payments

Far Eastern Air Transport  (FAT) has recently declared that they will already accept crypto payments for tickets, thus making it the first ever Taiwanese airline to do so. The airline claims that they will fully accept cryptocurrency for the payment of plane tickets and all other relevant services. The main goal of this unforeseen move is for the airline to be the frontrunner of cryptocurrency adoption in the aviation industry.
The airline is fully operational around most parts of Asia including: China, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea and of course, several destinations across Taiwan. According to the announcement (translated from Chinese), “future customers will be able to enjoy a more convenient and “discounted” booking experience using cryptocurrency as they purchase from its over 20,000 flights a year and all other related products and services of the company.”
The airline’s president, Zhang Gangwei has said: “The widespread use of cryptocurrency in various scenarios will usher in a  new future for the airline business, lodging industry, OTA (Online Travel Agent) and the entire tourism sector. FAT is about to be the number one in the industry to embrace cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.”
This action will most likely attract bitcoin traders, users and enthusiasts from the most “cryptocurrency-receptive part of the world”, Asia. In connection to this,  a South Korean travel website offers a selection of 50,000 hotels and other types of accommodation facilities that also accepts cryptocurrency payments.
