Ripple Partners with Madonna to Help Children in Malawi

Madonna, the famous singer, has struck a welcome partnership with Ripple to donate and raise funds for millions of orphaned children in far Africa, Malawi.

The Queen of Pop, who is most known for her beautiful music and great lyrics than her consistent philanthropic acts, has decided to extend her impact as her 60th birthday closes in. And what better way than to partner with Ripple, with their growing track record of helping thousands and making donations in lacking sectors?

The partnership between Ripple and Madonna would be a month-long initiative to raise funds to help orphans in the country of Malawi, through Raising Malawi. That Madonna had founded the Raising Malawi charity about 12 years ago is a testament of the singer’s will to help; showing that she has more to offer to the world than her songs.

The fundraising campaign started on the last day of July and would end on August 31.  While Madonna has raised US$28,783 from Facebook page alone, Ripple is set to match all public donations made within this period. According to her, all donations made would mainly benefit the work of Home of Hope, a nonprofit orphanage in Malawi.

Reaching Out to Thousands of Orphans

About one million children have been orphaned due to cases related to a prevalent HIV/AIDS in Malawi, according to a statement released by Ripple. Eric van Miltenburg, Ripple’s senior vice president of business operations also contributed:

“We’re honored to be a part of Raising Malawi’s amazing work with some of the world’s most underserved children.”

There are no indications specifying whether the donations would be matched in USD or XRP.  The senior vice president revealed that it was through Sound Ventures, that Ripple was introduced to Malawi.  Sound Ventures is a technological-based investment that was founded in 2012 by Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary.

This is not the first time Ripple would be involved in philanthropic projects, as just this year alone, they have contributed millions of dollars to several major causes ranging from education to maligned children.

Ripple’s Philanthropic Track Records

Apart from donating money to schools invested in Blockchain research and technology, Ripple has also immensely contributed to Wildlife; with Kutcher partnering with the company in May, to give US$4 million in XRP to the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. This was done to save and preserve species that are in the danger of extinction.

Earlier in the year too, the cryptocurrency company donated roughly US$29 million worth of XRP to public schools in the United States., the platform through which the donation was made confirmed the donation from Ripple the largest they have ever had in more than 20 years since its inception!

Ripple (XRP), the 3rd largest crypto coin in the world currently seems to be redefining the definition of impact every single day with appropriate financial aids, and if anything, it is the most welcome development.

If you are in doubt, ask the now blessed people of Malawi.
