Reddit Allegedly Eliminates Bitcoin Payment Option

There had recently been reports that Reddit has removed the option which allows its users to pay for their premium membership, Reddit Gold, in Bitcoin (BTC). They cited an “upcoming Coinbase change” as the reason behind the removal, this was according to a Reddit post in the subreddit r/btc posted on the 23rd of March.
A Reddit user posted a video of the process of giving another Reddit user Reddit Gold. The video shows that the only options available are Paypal and credit card. Another Reddit user, emoney40 who is a moderator of several subreddits (not including r/btc) has said that the change was because of the Coinbase Commerce change. He added that “the upcoming Coinbase change, combined with some bugs around the Bitcoin payment option that were affecting purchases for certain users, led us to remove Bitcoin as payment option.”
A few Reddit users on the thread had commented saying that they it isn’t much of a loss to them to be unable to use BTC to pay for Reddit Gold because of its pricey transaction fees.
