Poland’s Central Bank Allegedly Funds a Youtube Propaganda Against Cryptocurrencies

Allegations of the Central Bank of Poland (Narodowy Bank Polski) funding a Youtube “smear campaign” directed against cryptocurrencies have recently surfaced. According to the website, money.pl, the central bank acknowledged it and admitted hiring the services of a few prominent Youtubers in the country.
Reports from Business Insider Poland show that the Naradowy Bank Polski (NFB) spent around 91,000 zloty ($27, 000) on a campaign specifically designed to attack the legitimacy of cryptocurrencies. The aforementioned budget for the smear campaign was used on platforms such as Youtube, Facebook and Google.
One evidence of this report is a video posted by Polish Youtuber Marcin Dubiel to his 937,000 followers, last December. In the video entitled “STRACIŁEM WSZYSTKIE PIENIĄDZE?!” (I LOST ALL MY MONEY?!), Dubiel invests all his money on a fake cryptocurrency called Dubielcoin, gets rich, but loses everything as the value plunges. The video has over 500,000 views.
The NFB was reported to have enlisted the help of Gamellon Network which represents most of Poland’s top Youtube stars, one which is Dubiel.
The campaign has then caused an immediate backlash from the crypto community. Mati Greenspan, a Senior Market Analyst at trading platform eToro labelled the act as “low down and dirty”.
