Namibia Looking Towards Blockchain Tech For Remittance

The Namibian government is seeking measures of applying blockchain technology in the country. This has led to a study of appropriate measures and the meeting of George Goognin Mile Unity Foundation’s Global Ambassador with Hage Geingob, the president of Namibia, Minister of Investments and the Head of Presidents’ Administration.

Blockchain Technology Adoption

The blockchain technology the underlying tech of cryptocurrency has seen broad adoption in recent years. Countries and institutions that are wary of adopting cryptocurrency because of its inherent disadvantages have taken to mainstream adoption of blockchain technology.
Also, the blockchain tech is dubbed the future of the tech world; this has prompted the top developed countries in the world to adopt the technology in safeguarding their interests.
However, African countries have been relatively silent in the adoption of cryptocurrency as well as blockchain technology. The third world countries are making little or no effort in blockchain implementation unlike the US, Japan, South Korea, among others working on legislation for the blockchain tech implementation.

Namibia Foray Into Blockchain Tech Adoption

Considering the relative silence of African countries regarding blockchain technology, the president of Namibia, Hage Geingob has been making efforts to see the tech implementation in the country.
Namibia can be considered as one of the minor African countries. However, its effort in blockchain tech implementation makes it one of the heavyweights in the region, in consideration of future technology.
Namibian government meeting with George Goognin Mile Unity Foundation’s Global Ambassador has intensified the process. After a discussion on moving the Fintech industry in the country forward held on the 27th September in New York at the UN meeting, George Goognin has received an invitation from President of Namibia. This is aim to develop a detailed plan for the implementation of XDR technology that would boost the flow of investment and international trade.
According to the President, the main goal of the country is to establish reliable institutional mechanisms for the development of the country’s economy.
Goognin also stated that they are visiting Namibia to discuss the regulation of blockchain technologies and crypto assets, and their application in money Remittance, cross-border trading, and investments.
