Cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin and Ethereum are concepts that are associated with computer geeks, and groups that keep the knowledge of these things for themselves. But a group of Argentinians has set a goal to clear this belief. Bitcoin Argentina, a cryptocurrency non-profit organization that has been active in charity rallies before, and Bitcoin Lat-Am, have created a new project that will aim to bring crypto knowledge to everyone alike, according to an article by Infobae.
The two non-profits gathered funds and purchased a van that will travel by all Argentina, to teach people about the basic concepts of cryptocurrencies and why they are so important for the future of the world economy. The word Bitcoineta comes from a wordplay between bitcoin and “furgoneta” (a common word in Spanish for a van).
According to the project creators, the most important thing that they are set to do is to spread awareness about cryptocurrencies to the people and to destroy that belief that says that cryptocurrencies are for elites. Gabriel Kurman, one of the project creators declared:
“THE IDEA OF THE BITCOINETA IS TO GO TO EVERY SMALL TOWN AND CITY IN ARGENTINA, AND THEN TO ALL SOUTH AMERICA TO TEACH PEOPLE HOW THEY CAN BENEFIT FROM THE USE OF THESE NEW TECHNOLOGIES”
The van has all the needed materials for instructing people on the go: educational materials and also a projector to play videos and show people writings like on a chalkboard. The tour started officially on June first, when they hit the road to visit Chascomús, a small city of Argentina with a population of 30,000 inhabitants. Then they will be headed to Toninas, Tandil, Necochea and Tres Arroyos, all small cities and towns. Their trip itinerary is available also on their Twitter account.
According to their creators, the bitcoineta will keep touring all around Latin America after this, to keep teaching people about cryptocurrencies.
