Johnny Depp Could Star Matthew Mellon's Biopic, The Man Who Died Leaving More Than $500 Million In Crypto Lost

Cryptocurrencies are getting into our lives really heavy right now. And it is not just in the fintech department where they are the hot topic now, but also in the music and film department, where each day more and more works depict cryptocurrencies in their content, and even some famous stars can be associated with crypto related projects. That is the case of Johnny Depp, that is reportedly being eyed to depict Matthew Mellon, a famous cryptocurrency millionaire that died early this year while battling opioid addiction.

Matthew Mellon was an incredibly wealthy millionaire that made most of his fortune by investing a significant part of his wealth in the early stages of the market, much like the famous Winklevoss Twins, that came out of Facebook to invest in cryptocurrencies. Matthew died in strange circumstances while trying to cure himself of drug addiction in a treatment center in Mexico. Some say that he died while taking Ayahuasca, a powerful ritual drug that could cause heavy hallucinations.

But the sad part of the story is that Matthew died leaving more than 500 million dollars lost in cryptocurrency. In life, he was highly vigilant of his money and he did not tell anyone about the keys to access his fortune in cryptocurrency. Many friends said that he was sometimes paranoid and rather avoided to talk about his fortune.

Johnny Depp could be the one that the producers of the said biopic are looking for. According to a source, Matthew used to say that it would be “cool” to make a movie about his crazy life. Page Six mentioned that the star from Pirates of the Caribbean could be interested in the film, but has not been able to confirm it directly.¬†

A film of this kind would be a first for cryptocurrency: a biopic of a crypto millionaire who left his fortune lost because of his paranoid attitude, being played by a famous star.
