Internet Study Shows Coinbase Has Greatly Multiplied Its User Base

An internet trends study has found that Coinbase has more than quadrupled its user base since January 2017 till December of the same year. The study has also found that cryptocurrencies have grown enormously in popularity and could be compared with the rise if the internet in the late 90’s.
Th study, called “Mary Meeker’s Internet Trends 2018” is published every year to show the world which trends were followed during the period, and to summarize the changes in the way that people browse and use the web, based in data research and statistics collected. It has been published since 2004, a product of the constant research of Mary Meeker, a Wall Street investor turned internet analyst that has shown an enormous capacity of spotting the big picture trends in large chunks of data.
The study has shown that cryptocurrencies, at least on the internet, is in process of massification. It states that Coinbase, one of the most important cryptocurrency business in the USA, has quadrupled its number of users since the beginning of last year. This indicates the growing interest of people in cryptocurrencies and the adoption of these kinds of assets as investment instruments and also as a means of mobile payment.
Coinbase has been one of the great winners of the cryptocurrency boom because it gives users an easy way to buy and invest in cryptocurrencies from scratch. Only by using your credit card, it gives you access to the most popular cryptocurrencies in the market: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin. And this year, Coinbase has also revamped its trading arm, formerly called Gdax, to a new platform called Coinbase Pro, absorbing Paradex, another exchange they bought. This will help them simplify some operations for its users.
Some reports indicate that the last December only, Coinbase won more than 2 million users, due to the crypto price hike and the interest it brought to the segment. This report only aggregates data of the last year, so most likely Coinbase userbase has grown a lot more since then. You can browse the study here.
