HTC reveals its plan to launch its blockchain-based smartphone on the 22nd of October. This launch makes it the second blockchain-based phone to be released into the market.

Mobile phones, since its emergence has evolved through various phases and application of different technology before arriving at the template. Mobile phones have evolved through Java technology to Android tech and more. The prominence of the blockchain technology has warranted its application to the mobile phone also.
These gadgets have become vital to daily living, as it serves as cameras, laptops, and tablets, music players, entertainment systems, watches, calendars, alarm clocks, among others. The recent application of the blockchain technology to the mobile phone is set to expand the function of mobile phones, which could turn it into a bank.
HTC, a giant phone manufacturing firm had earlier announced this year, its plan to launch a blockchain-based mobile phone, named HTC Exodus. However, the release date was not stated. The official release date of the blockchain-based phone has been slated for October 22 as shown on the Instagram page of HTC.
The specs of the blockchain-based phone were not included in the Instagram post. However, the features of the phone are expected by its prospective users. Earlier this year, Chen who led the blockchain initiative for HTC said that the phone would be able to support different types of cryptocurrencies such as Ether and Bitcoin, and also technologies such as Dfinity, Lighting Networks, among others.
Other Blockchain-based Phone Innovations
The HTC’s Exodus project would be the second blockchain-based mobile phone in the tech industry, second to Finney. The blockchain based mobile phone, Finney, launched by Sirin Labs, based in Switzerland was the first of its kind in the blockchain tech space.
Finney functions on the Android operating system and has the characteristics of a peer-to-peer resource sharing, a built-in crypto wallet and other Features of the blockchain technology. The phone also has 18:9 notch 6-inch screen, a 12-megapixel camera in the rear and an 8-megapixel camera in the front. The pre-order cost $999 at the moment.
Also recently, PundiX revealed its creation of a blockchain-based communication protocol and operating system for mobile devices. This functions on a blockchain-based ecosystem known as function X. The ecosystem enables users to send and receive various forms of data using FXTP securely.
Notably, this operating system is available to manufacturers of smartphone for testing.
