“Hodlonaut” Gets Legal Papers for Defamatory Comments Against Craig Wright

Hodlonaut is reputably known for starting the Bitcoin lightning torch trend, a torch which went round over 43 countries. Craig Wright, on the other hand, is reputably known for claiming he is Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s creator. However, it appears the Australian computer scientist didn’t take the recent comments from Hodlonaut lightly given that the cryptocurrency enthusiast was served legal papers by Wright’s lawyers.

Latest Event Affirms There is Really no Freedom of Speech

While there may be freedom of speech, there is a limit to what a person is allowed to say as is now evident in the case between Craig Wright and Hodlonaut. According to Coingeek on April 11, Hodlonaut had made defamatory remarks against the businessman. One of such statements is Wright is “a very sad and pathetic scammer. Clearly mentally ill.”

Asides from the comment which has since been deleted from the account and even the account deleted, Hodlonaut was allegedly among those who began the hashtag #CraigWrightIsAFraud. Another accusation he purportedly threw at Wright’s way is that the computer scientist is attempting “to fraudulently ‘prove’ he is Satoshi.”

Hodlonaut is Singled Out Despite Similar Remarks from Community

Nonetheless, comments of this nature have not been the first comment of its kind given that media outlets and social media enthusiasts have also had one or two things to say about Wright’s claims. But then, since Hodlonaut has garnered a lot of attention on Twitter, it does not come as a surprise. His remarks have, however, earned him legal papers from the court which was served on 29 March.

That aside, Wright’s Attorney is confident that Craig Wright is Satoshi Nakamoto.

According to the lawyer:

Wright has not fraudulently claimed to be Satoshi Nakamoto. He is Satoshi Nakamoto. He produced the report Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System in October 2008, sent the first Bitcoin to Hal Finney in January 2009 and played an integral part in the development of Bitcoin. He has explained his role in detail on previous occasions.”

Wright Offers $5,000 BSV Reward to Anyone Who Can Reveal Hodlonaut’s Identity

The computer scientist, on the other hand, has taken it one step further by offering $5,000 worth of Bitcoin SV to whoever can reveal the identity of Hodlonaut. The latter is difficult to ascertain since there is really no picture to identify him or her other than some tattoos on both hands. All that is known, is profile information that says the account holder resides in Norway.

Asides from offering a bounty reward, Wright is also demanding for an apology from Hodlonaut and one tweeted from their own account. He also wants Hodlonaut to openly make a statement in court that the allegations made against Wright are false.

Cryptocurrency enthusiasts have shown their support to Hodlonaut and some have changed their name to “Hodlonaut”. A lot of jokes have been thrown around the case, and most likely, the excitement will die off in a few days.
