Google Bans Cryptocurrency Mining Apps From Play Store

For big companies like Google, when it comes to cryptocurrency, it is sometimes a step forward and other times a step back. After announcing a relax on the advertising ban that was introduced by them earlier this year, and also announcing that they were introducing blockchain services into their Cloud solutions, now Google has banned all cryptocurrency mining apps from the Android Play Store, a thing that marks a clear stance against mining on this devices. They modified the terms of services and conditions of apps of their store recently to accommodate those changes, according to a report published by The Next Web.
Though a blanket ban is always an arguable choice, Google justifies the road taken in this issue by saying that their only concern in the safety of their users, and that this measure is being taken to minimize the numerous cases of crypto jacking (using a remote device to mine cryptocurrency es without informing the user about that) that have been happening in the past.
The new policy implemented by Google for their app store clearly states that apps that use the device to mine cryptocurrency will be removed this July, but this won’t be an easy job for the company. The Android app store is one of the most prolific app store in the whole world, having millions of apps approved, and sorting them out seems to be a little daunting.
Google also announced earlier this year that they would we removing all cryptocurrency mining plugins from the Google Chrome Store, a thing that took them two months to complete. This market is more populated than the plugin store, so it should take them significatively more time to implement the said measure.
The intention of Google with this action is clear, but it remains a mistery if the action taken will yield the desired results.
