Five Men Arrested For Planning One Million Dollars Bitcoin Break-In

Five men were arrested for planning a 1 million dollars bitcoin break-in, the deputy sheriff of the Forsyth County in Georgia informed today, according to a report in the 11alive.com website. This was the outcome of a four-month-long inquiry made by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Team.
The initial contact that the police had with the alleged conspirators was at a hotel, where they received a call from a non named source, on January 29. The Forsyth County Sheriff Office Narcotics team and the Major Crime Unit responded to the call, in what they had believed to be a drug-related incident. When they arrived at the place they found four of the suspects with equipment clearly devised to make a concealed break-in or a kidnap: zip ties, bandanas, duck tape and also latex gloves.
Due to lack of evidence at the scene they had to let them go, but they did not forget about it. The officers kept inquiring and investigating, and their effort paid off. They were able to discover that the four suspects were planning of a residential break-in to steal more than one million dollars worth of bitcoin.
The police then moved swiftly to capture the plotters. Trivette Adams and Michael McDermont were found near the Atlanta Airport trying to escape in a flight, but they were detained before doing so, on January 30. Matthew Schwartz and Jacob South were able to escape to Chicago, where they were apprehended due to a collaboration between the Police Dept. of Chicago and officers from the county.
After interrogating the suspects, the officers found out that there was another person involved in the robbery. Justin Ellison was spotted in Illinois; he was interrogated and apprehended for the same crime. All conspirators were accused of residential strong-arm robbery charges.
Cryptocurrency related crimes, theft and extortions are becoming more and more common every day. Last month, a gang was arrested for committing a bitcoin-related gunpoint robbery in Dubai, and an Indian businessman was kidnapped and robbed by 10 Indian policemen.
