Emmanuel Macron Encourages European Farmers To Adopt Blockchain Tech

Emmanuel Macron gave a call to the European farmers to adopt blockchain technology for food tracking in the supply chain system. He said this while delivering a speech at the International Agriculture Fair in Paris.

A United Europe For Blockchain Technology

In his speech, Macron, emphasizing on the advantages of the blockchain said that “let’s do this in Europe, the avant-garde of agricultural technology, by developing tools that will track every product from raw material production to packaging and processing.”
Macron further noted that the innovation is there and it needs to be utilized in the agricultural world. He also said that it must be fully used because it is at the service of shared excellence and will be beneficial to the consumers.
Furthermore, he called for a united front of the European Union against the competition from the Chinese, Russian, and American products. He stated that the competition is not between the European states as no farmer or consumer want to be subjected to the diktat of the non-European countries.
Also, in his speech he beckoned on France and Europe at large to seize the opportunities in Africa. He noted that “I say, to all farmers and decision-makers, it is an opportunity for us to seize, an opportunity for shared development, an opportunity to export all our know-how and an opportunity to help us make the African continent succeed.”
The speech does not detail much about blockchain technology. However, his administration announced last year that they are to invest $700 million on blockchain tech, artificial intelligence, and data mining to transform the 5.5 million strong French bureaucracy.

Blockchain Adoption In The E.U.

The crypto and blockchain industry has seen several innovations and adoptions despite the industry experiencing several challenges.
Some Asian countries and some minor European countries such as Malta have adopted blockchain and cryptocurrencies by creating crypto friendly regulations that attracted blockchain firms into their jurisdiction.
In recent time, France has been adopting a similar stance with crypto friendly legislations to create a haven for the blockchain and crypto industry in these countries.
