Coinbase Wrongly Charges Users for Cryptocurrency Purchases

Coinbase, one of the largest wallet providers and exchanges in the world, has been charging users with wrong amounts of cash and making unauthorized withdrawals of customers bank accounts via credit card charges, according to some user reports on Reddit.
The issue started yesterday, and according to some wallet holders, a significant amount of users have been affected. A Coinbase representant acknowledged the issue and stated that this was a technical problem with Visa, the credit card company, that classifies the charges of cryptocurrency purchases in a category that lets them charge additional fees to clients.
One Reddit user even stated that he had been charged 17 times with a non-disclosed amount of money. Another user stated that his bank account was literally drained two days after he had collected his paycheque. Another user complained that he had been reimbursed the charge, but not the fee associated with it. Coinbase representatives stated that all charges would be reimbursed and added that they are working with credit card companies to make a unique classification for cryptocurrency purchases that will not include charging additional fees.
In the meantime, Coinbase assures that they have worked a temporary solution and that these kinds of charge won’t happen anymore. They advise anyone that has been wrongfully charged to write to tech support and inform of each case individually.
