Coinbase Explores The Addition Of Five New Cryptocurrencies; Ripple Not There

Today, Coinbase announced in its blog site on Medium, one of the most popular corporate blogging platforms, that they are exploring the addition of five new cryptocurrencies to their platform, with some picks being pretty surprising ones. This has had already affected market valuation and price of these coins and the market in general.
For them, being one of the cryptocurrency monster exchanges and one of the most influential startups in the crypto business, is only natural to try to extend its portfolio to offer more options to its customers; this time the cryptocurrencies to be explored for their addition are: Cardano, Basic Attention Token, Stellar Lumens, Zcash, and 0x. While some of them are no-brainer choices, like Cardano and Stellar, other choices are pretty puzzling.
Why would Coinbase prefer to add an obscure coin like 0x rather than a known cryptocurrency like Ripple? The answer may lie in the possible classification that Ripple, called often the bank cryptocurrency, could be getting from regulators as a security token; a thing that most likely would disrupt Coinbase operation if they have it listed.
Nonetheless, Coinbase has made clear on this statement that this is only the announcement of an exploration and make no guarantees in listing any of the tokens mentioned, because they are new kinds of cryptocurrencies and the platform of Coinbase would have to adapt to include and support transactions with them.
This announcement is made due to several complaints that some of their traders took advantage of insider information to make money when Coinbase announced that they would be listing Bitcoin Cash; so they are informing everyone about this to avoid situations like that happening now.
Coinbase stated also that in the future they might offer several statements like this one, to keep customers informed about new explorations of adding other cryptocurrencies to their platform.
