Ripple is a real-time gross settlement system which supports fiat currency, cryptocurrency, commodity exchanges and remittances. Ripple is based around a shared public ledger, the XRP Ledger.
Ripple was created by American based technology company Ripple Labs Inc.
Ripple is used by companies such as UniCredit, UBS and Santander and has been growing in popularity with banks and payment networks. Initially, there were 100 billion XRP created, which is the currency’s cap.
