A British In Amsterdam Accused Of Laundering Money With Bitcoin

A British man in Amsterdam is facing several charges of money laundering and up to 5 years in jail, according to the public prosecutor of that city.
According to reports, the man took bitcoin from his customers and gave them FIAT cash collecting an unusually high fee (5% to 8%). It’s presumed that the money delivered was used by their clients to buy drugs and other illegal items traded on the dark web. The amount of the money traded between the year 2014 and 2016 was more than 10 million euro.
The prosecution also found evidence that the man was implicated in the sale and growing of cannabis, because he had photos of the plants being grown in his laptop. The prosecutor believes that the man sold his marihuana online and got paid in bitcoin. That was what introduced the man to the world of cryptocurrencies and got him trading bitcoin for profit.
The man alleges that their customers were legal and honorable people, and that he only provided a service for them. The case will be decided next month.
