Blockchain Tech To Introduce Credibility To Coffee Supply Chain

Carico Café Connoisseur, a Ugandan coffee firm has introduced blockchain tech for the tracking of its supply chain as reported by Business Daily Africa. The new platform will be providing a shared record data held on multiple computers instead of a single system.
The tech is introduced to track the records of the coffee from the farm to collection centres, warehousing, and inspection by regulators and shipping. Also, the introduction of the tech to track supply chain is aimed at benefitting the coffee farmers according to the firm. Wanendeya noted that consumers are willing to pay more if they can know where exactly the coffee is coming from.
The firm is also after the welfarism of farmers as it works with two farmers cooperative with hundreds of members for the supply of coffee and it projects the innovation could boost farmers income by 10 percent.
According to the International Coffee Organisation, Uganda is the largest exporter of coffee in Africa, followed by Ethiopia and it has some of the best quality of coffee beans in the world.
