Blockchain Firm Libereum Purchases Elche Football Team

Blockchain and cryptocurrency company, Libereum, recently announced their acquisition of one of Spain’s well-known football team, Elche CF.

According to a report from Voetbal International, Libereum — a Netherlands-based company owned by businessmen Rob Ploum, Eric Ploum and Cem Kumlar– announced on Wednesday that they will now be in control of the Spanish football team.

Libereum Bought Elche CF For €80 Million

As explained, Libereum already sent its first downpayment through a bank agreement with Elche CF for an amount of €4.3 million or equivalent to $4.9 million.

However, the crypto firm also posted on their website that they already made a stunning deal with the team for an amount of €80 million.

Initially, Libereum announced their terms of the acquisition in an interview with a news site on August, this year.

Libereum Gains Power Over Football Team

According to the report, Libereum demands that their newly-acquired football teams will have a visible logo of their company in their uniforms.

Aside from this, once the acquisitions of teams are successful, they are now Libereum-owned players– which means that purchasing a player from their team will have to be availed using their crypto coins called Liber.

“We are bold enough to predict that once the first club we buy has been made public, more clubs will seek to partner with Libereum and/or will be offered for sale,” the company states on August 2018.

Elche CF did not yet made their opinion about the acquisition, however, Libereum already shared their position of why they chose Elche CF.

According to their founder — Cem Kumlar, they chose the team of Elche CF as they also have the same passion and vision with the positive effects of cryptos — which makes it easier for their fans to adapt on the new changes.

As Kumlar boasted, once the team successfully joined the company, they will assure that Elche CF will be coming back to their fame in the football field as Libereum promised to sponsor all of their needs for their incoming games.

“The purpose of this takeover is twofold: on the one hand, we want to bring the club back to the Primera Divison. This requires financial injections. And that is where our digital coin comes in,” said Kumlar.

“We want the coin (token) to gradually become part of the financial policy in and around the club, so that everything in due course can be paid simply, in an easily accessible way, with Liber.”

More Teams To Acquire Soon

Interestingly, the company might acquire more teams in the future as rumors spread out that Libereum talks to Spanish, Korean and Dutch teams. After all, their objective stands with ‘focusing on building a network of users in the sports industry’
