The Big Bang Blockchain
According to Hublot’s release, the 210-limited edition can only be bought with Bitcoin, the number of limited edition symbolizes the fact that the number of Bitcoin will never exceed 21 million. Hublot has also partnered with octagon Strategy Limited (OSL) in order to promote and sell the model as sales commence at the beginning of 2019. The Asian-based digital asset brokerage would help in the processing of customer data during the pre-sale and also host the website where buyers are to register. Payment detail is expected to be sent via email. Hublot further explained the importance of decentralization:
“By allowing digital information to be distributed, Blockchain technology creates the backbone of a new type of Internet. Well-recognised for its originality, the technology is regarded as one of the most powerful and fastest-growing trading tools, not to mention unlimited possibility of usage in different aspects that will revolutionise various industry norms and trade.”
Bitcoin Experiencing Unprecedented Growth
Bitcoin was initially created in 2008 when the global financial crisis was at its brink with the publishing of its white paper authored by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto. The white paper titled “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System,” was released on bitcoin.org on October 31 which is referred to as a ground zero phase of Bitcoin despite that, the first actual bitcoin was successfully mined on January 3, 2009.
After about ten years since the first Bitcoin block was successfully mined, many critics have lashed the digital currency, calling it several derogatory names with some regarding it as ‘dead.’ Bitcoin still stays winning as it retains its position as the most popular cryptocurrency in the globe with a current market capitalization of over $115 billion as at press time.
