South African Bitcoin Cash payment platform, Centbee has announced that the alpha version of the Centbee Bitcoin Cash wallet is now available for download and testing on the Google Play Store. For now, the open alpha version of the wallet makes use of TESTNET coins so that users can try it out even without utilizing real Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
Centbee’s remittance system uses Bitcoin Cash as infrastructure, which enables customers to make cross-border payments cheaply and safely. The wallet was designed to ease and quicken crypto transactions such as transferring, sending and storing of BCH on the platform. According to the announcement from Centbee: “We are making Centbee the easiest way to store, spend and send bitcoin cash safely on your mobile phone and we know our fans cannot wait to download it, play around with it and let us know what you think!”
Testing the Centbee Mobile Wallet Demo App
Using the demo application seems easy, at first, one needs first download the app on the Google Play store to get started. After installing the app, send an email with the recipient address of your BCH to email@example.com. You are to use ‘Buzz me!’ as the subject to get free TESTNET coins. Once you get the BCH in your Centbee wallet, you can give it a trial and don’t forget to send feedback by simply completing Centbee’s survey. Centbee explained that:
“This app is in alpha release. The Centbee Alpha app uses TESTNET coins instead of real Bitcoin cash. This is so that our fans can try it out and let us know what they think, without using their actual Bitcoin cash coins. Do not send real Bitcoin cash to your Centbee wallet, only use your TESTNET coins.”
Lorien Gamaroff, co-founder of Centbee earlier stated that: “Centbee is trying to make it easy for people to use Bitcoin Cash.” Gamaroff also added that: “What we are trying to do is to make the experience very much like using [BCH] in existing social media app like WhatsApp or Twitter because we think that people are used to those apps, and if the bitcoin experience is exactly the same is that then the adoption will grow a lot more.”
Earlier in the year, blockchain tech development group, nChain, partnered with Centbee and purchased an equity stake in the business. NChain is a global expert in blockchain development which backs products and applications that make digital currencies a comprehensive peer-to-peer cash solution. CEO of nChain Group, Jimmy Nguyen commented that: “Centbee has one of the most user-friendly Bitcoin wallets and merchant payment solutions we have seen. It smartly embraces Bitcoin Cash because its bigger blocks, low fees, and fast transaction network represent the true vision of Bitcoin. We look forward to supporting Centbee as it sparks greater merchant and consumer adoption of Bitcoin Cash in sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.”
This partnership puts nChain on the list of investors from the blockchain space who have taken an interest to venture in the crypto wallet payment system.
